Rapp Bomek has roots back 1907 and the company Motoren Rap. The company was formed around a two-stroke hot-bulb engine and set its sights at an early stage on export markets, selling RAP engines to England, Portugal, Spain, USA and South Africa. In 1959, the company moved from Oslo, changed its name to AS Motoren Rapp, and began production in Bodø, in Northern Norway.
Rapp has constantly looked for ways to expand, improve technology and develop new products. This led to the acquisition of an another Bodø company and the formation of Rapp Bomek in 1983. Rapp Bomek has been producing fire doors since 1978 and has been involved in most of the larger oilfield developments on the Norwegian continental shelf as well as export of fire-, blast doors and driving systems to protect people and assets on oil & gas installation worldwide. The Company also manufactured doors, hatches and ship-equipment for marine vessels to perform in tough Arctic weather conditions. In 2014 Rapp Bomek started broadening its portfolio and capabilities to the Security area, developing doors with multi-performance qualities like break-in resistance combined with fire and blast resistance. The last decade Rapp Bomek has manufactured and installed high security products to protect critical infrastructure, government buildings, museums and defense installations in Scandinavia. Today we are sourcing safety and security products to the Security markets, Energy markets and Marine markets worldwide. |
