With origins dating back to 1864, Rapp Bomek is one of Norway’s oldest companies within marine mechanical engineering. From being a small typical shipyard BOMEK developed into a local industrial stronghold. RAPP BOMEK has been producing fire doors since 1978 and has been involved in most of the larger oilfield developments on the Norwegian shelf. Rapp Bomek is manufacturing a wide range of ship equipment mainly for the European marked since 1967. First class quality, competitive prices and short delivery are our main strengths. The Bama building on the Kværner site near Aker Solutions on Tranby in Lier has a floor area of 32,000 square meters and will house between 300 and 400 workers when it is ready. The Bama building is constructed in accordance with strict environmental requirements and must be certified according to the Breeam standard.
Rapp Bomek has delivered 150 fire doors for the project via the turnkey contractor Alento AS. The fire doors are delivered with different configurations and equipment specially adapted to the building's requirements for fire protection and the environment. Joakim Schøning from Alento AS is very pleased with Rapp Bomek who has joined the project as a new supplier of fire doors. In a short time, Rapp Bomek has delivered 150 doors. Joakim Schøning says: «In short, I am very satisfied with the deliveries from you, and fast response time when something was unclear and any errors in deliveries was corrected quickly. The White Rose field and satellite extensions are located in the Jeanne d’Arc Basin, 350 km east of Newfoundland and Labrador in approximately 120 m of water. The West White Rose Project will access further resources to the west of the field. The first oil production is anticipated 2022 and is expected to reach a peak production of 75,000 barrels per day.

(Source: Husky Energy) Photo: Husky Energy The Aasta Hansteen gas discovery (previously Luva) in the Norwegian Sea is situated at a depth of 1300 metres in the Vøring area, 300 kilometres from land.
The planned field development includes a SPAR platform, which will be the first such installation on the Norwegian continental shelf. SPAR is a floating installation consisting of a vertical column moored to the seabed. The platform is 339 meters high and it weighs 70 000 tons. The project includes expansion of the Shell-operated gas plant at Nyhamna. Preparations will be made for the tie-in of existing and future discoveries in the area. (Source and photo: www.statoil.com) In Storo, Oslo a new building project on 62 000 m2 includes the constructions of a hotel (325 rooms), a cinema center (with 14 halls), apartments (149), kindergarten and industry buildings.
Rapp Bomek has delivered 35 steel profile doors with glass panels with and without fire resistance class to the hotel. Photo: Veidekke The project Diagonale is located between Dronning Eufemias street and Opera street in Oslo. The entire project will contain around 400 student apartments, 14 000 m2 offices and 4 000 m2 business/catering facilities on street level. The whole project is divided into two buildings attached by a joint basement.

Photo: Veidekke Johan Sverdrup field is located only 155 km west from Stavanger and it is one of the five biggest oil fields on the Norwegian continental shelf. With expected resources of between 1.7 – 3.0 billion barrels of oil equivalent, it will also be one of the most important industrial projects in Norway over the next 50 years. Rapp Bomek and Statoil in 2015 signed a frame agreement for supply of external and internal fire rated doors to the Johan Sverdrup field development. During the first phase Rapp Bomek delivered approximately 260 doors to four different platforms: the living quarter, the riser, the drilling and the process platform. The delivered products were fire rated hinged and sliding doors made of stainless steel that are pneumatic and manually operated. The installation of the doors during construction was supervised by Rapp Bomek’s field service engineers. (Source: Statoil) Illustration: Statoil ASA Grimstadporten is a tunnel on E18 in Grimstad municipality in Aust-Agder. The tunnel is 552 metres long and it was opened as part of the motorway between Arendal and Grimstad in 2000. In November 2017 started work on rehabilitating the tunnel.

It will be a modern meeting point for knowledge exchange. The new library is going to open for the public in 2020.

Once again Statoil trust Rapp Bomek AS as a supplier and enters a framework agreement estimated to 27.2 million. The fire doors will be manufactured at Rapp Bomeks factory in Bodø. Historically, the global oil and gas market has been Rapp Bomek's core market, and with this contract, the company consolidates its position in this market. The Statoil field Johan Castberg is located 240 kilometers north of Hammerfest in the Barents Sea. Fire doors will be delivered to a floating production vessel (FPSO) to operate on the field. Final investment decision is expected at the end of the year and there is great optimism around the project. Statoil have ordered products with heat tracer that are implemented in our fire doors and operating systems. These fire doors are specially designed for arctic environments and Rapp Bomek has over 20 years of experience in producing this type of doors. Photo: Kåre Spanne / Statoil University Hospital of North Norway (UNN) in Tromsø is expanding with a new A-wing of approx. 13,000 m2 spread over seven floors. The new A-wing will ensure that UNN maintains its regional and university hospital function and supports transition to daily treatment.

The general contractor of the projects is Statsbygg and both expansions are modular constructions.
Rapp Bomek delivered 150 doors to the project via the responsible installation company Skansa. The doors we supplied are used as exit doors and corridor doors. The doors comply with the high security requirements. Beside the doors we also supplied fixed glass fields. These glass fields have fire rating and provide high protection against forced-entry and escape attacks. The deliveries for the project started in November 2016 and ended in April 2017. We have been a market leader in fire and safety doors primarily for the oil and gas industry. After taking strategic measures towards new markets earlier this year we have now secured a significant contract with AF Group for the delivery of security doors to the new National Museum. Rapp Bomek will deliver 18 telescope shutters and 34 sliding doors to the project. The project is an EPCIC delivery, which means that Rapp Bomek delivers everything from design / engineering, through production, installation and preparation to operational phase. According to www.statsbygg.no; the new National Museum will be the largest art museum in the Nordic region and one of the few buildings that can use the term FutureBuilt project. Being part of a FutureBuilt collaboration requires that the new national museum is a future-oriented building with environmentally friendly solutions that are durable over time. The new building will mark the National Museum as an art and cultural provider of international format and will be Norway's largest cultural building. The National Museum will open to the public in 2020 if everything goes according to plan. Photo: Statsbygg/Arkitekt Kleihues+Schuwerk Røahjemmet, a nursing home in Oslo, was built based on a passive house concept which increases the energy efficiency of the building and reducing its ecological footprint.
The original building from 1978 was modernized and turned into an eco-friendly building. The building process started in 2015 with Hent AS as the entrepreneur. The first residents moved in in June 2017. Rapp Bomek has delivered 120 internal steel fire doors to the project and had the responsibility of installation. It is a unique station with an 800 meters long station hall placed at the heart of the mountain. It is accessible from the city center Holmestrand through a foot tunnel and from the mountain plateau via 70-meter-high lifts. It consists of four tracks and platforms. The new tracks in the tunnel are designed for high-speed trains up to 250 km/h. Rapp Bomek together with their daughter company Rapp Pyrotec got the assignment to deliver fire-rated and smoke-proof doors, hatches and gates to this project. The companies started the production at the end of May and the last delivery date was at the end of November. The delivery consists of ca. 100 safety doors, gates and hatches. The biggest smoke-proof sliding door is 3 meters high and 7 meters wide. It was challenging project because these doors needed to be designed for significant fatigue, but the Rapp Bomek doors have a high margin when it comes to fatigue. The control system needed to get in cooperation with the SRO system for Jernbaneverket and that was a new area for both companies. Besides the production, Rapp Bomek took also part in the installation; our service engineers were on site from July to the middle of November performing installation. The Allmannajuvet zinc mines are a disused mining works in Sauda, Norway. The mines were in operation from 1881 to 1899. During these years a total of 12,000 tonnes of zinc ore were extracted. Today, the mining area is a museum. The plain buildings in the gorge are designed in an industrial construction style to embody the story of the mines. Allmannajuvet, with its characteristic landscape and rich cultural history, is one of the 10 largest attractions along the National Tourist Routes.
Rapp Bomek has supplied special doors to Allmannajuvet project requested by the world famous Swiss architect Peter Zumpthor. The project was built by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens Vegvesen) and was completed in 2016. 35 safety doors from Rapp Bomek
The Skarv field is located in the Norwegian Sea, approx. 210 km off the coast of Sandnessjøen, on 350-450 m water depth. The field came on stream in December 2012 and has an expected field life of 25 years. It is located 12 km east of Kristiansand, close to the popular Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park. Sørlandssenteret was built in 1987, and was remodeled and expanded in 1995 and 2013. It has about 200 stores.

The Mariner Field is located on the East Shetland Platform of the UK North Sea, approximately 150 kilometers east of the Shetland Isles. The Mariner oil field consists of two shallow reservoir sections – the deeper, Maureen Formation at 1492 meters and the shallower Heimdal reservoir at 1227 meters. Located West of Shetland in the UK, the Quad 204 is an ambitious project to construct a new Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit to replace the existing Schiehallion FPSO. The new Glen Lyon FPSO measures 270 metres long by 52 metres wide. It will be able to process and export up to 130,000 barrels of oil a day and store up to 800,000 barrels. This will also include an extension of the existing subsea system with 15 new and replacement flow lines and 21 new and replacement risers. Without surface installations, this project involves bringing natural gas to land for liquefaction and export from the first plant of its kind in Europe and the world’s northernmost liquefied natural gas facility.
